When I was a toddler, Good Night Moon was my favorite book. Nearly 30 years later, I’m reading it to my son! The timeless story inspired this blanket design.

The base of the blanket is worked in a “cheater” cable pattern in which you only have to work front post stitches. Working the top section in a dark blue creates the night sky. The moon is worked separately and sewn on, and his hat is also attached separately. Embroider the stars and add the fuzzy border, and you’ve got a baby blanket that’s perfect for any baby shower!

The Good Night Moon Blanket is the November installment of the 2018 Sunshine Charlotte Crochet ALong, which features a different baby blanket pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to crochet charities. I’m featuring a different charity each month on my blog, but you can also donate to the charity of your choice. I design and donate these baby blankets in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
