Dear lover of yarn and of the tactile act of knitting,

This Fingerless glove (mitt) pattern is designed as a companion pattern to the Good Wishes for the New Year hat pattern and the New Year Beret pattern.
All three have been a joy to design and make and all three can be made in the same colourway to make a matching hat and mitt pattern.

The chart for these mitts is created with dark background colours and light-coloured motifs. You can switch the colours yourself and make a light-coloured background with dark coloured motifs, as I have in the 2nd mitt.

Yarn: 1 x 25g of each of the following Jamieson’s of Shetland, Spindrift. 100% Pure Shetland Wool

Colours: Sand, Oyster, Salmon, Sunset / Havana, Coffee, Sunrise, Paprika / Moorgrass and Granny Smith

Needles: - 1 set of 2:75mm (US2) double-pointed needles for the rib and one set of 3mm (US3) double-pointed needles –(DPN’s) for the body of the Mitt. - You will need 5 DPN’s in each set, plus one set of 2:75mm (US2)regular needles to cast on – (optional)

Notes: The pattern chart is 64 stitches wide and the pattern is knitted in the round. It is placed in such a way that a central Shetland Star pattern sits on the back of your hand and the join of each round falls in the middle of the palm. I have done this purposely so that the small step in pattern at the join point of each round is not on the side of the hand, where it would be noticeable, but in the palm. The pattern joins in the centre of the palm.

Chart Notes: Read the pattern on the chart from Right to Left – Knit all rows in the round using Double pointed needles.
