The Goosebumps socks are a spooky celebration of colour through simple geometric patterns. This stranded colourwork design includes a peasant (afterthought) heel. The patterns used are simple and repetitive, so you won’t have to be laser-focused on your knitting to get it right. These socks were designed with mini skeins or scrap yarn in mind but could just as easily be knitted with two contrasting colours.

yarn

The following weight/yardage estimate for a pair of socks is based on a foot length of 21cm (24cm, 27cm, 30.5cm). More yarn may be required for a longer foot.

Main Colour (MC) - example was made using Yarnworthy 100g BFL Fingering Yarn in Silver Lining (400m / 437.45yds per 100g). Size 1 (160 yds/146m, 37g), Size 2 (201 yds/184m, 46g), Size 3 (240 yds/219m, 55g), Size 4 (290 yds/265m, 66g).

Contrast Colour (CC) - example was made using Yarnworthy 7 x 20g BFL Fingering Goosebumps mini skeins (400m / 437.45yds per 100g). Size 1 (146yds/133m, 34g), Size 2 (184 yds/168m, 42g), Size 3 (219 yds/200m, 50g), Size 4 (265 yds/242m, 60.5g).

needles

2.25mm double-pointed needles (or circular if using magic loop method).

gauge

Knit in stranded colourwork on 2.25mm double-pointed needles:
33.5 stitches and 35 rounds per 4 inches/10cm.

sizes

Use the size which is closest to the actual foot circumference (as measured around the ball of the foot). As these are colourwork socks there will be less stretch than in a normal knitted sock, so there should be minimal negative ease. If in doubt, choose the size which is slightly smaller than your foot circumference for better fit.

1 6 1/2”/17cm
2 7 1/2”/ 19.5cm
3 8 1/2”/21cm
