Gorgeous Granny Bag
I wanted a bag that didn’t look quite as casual as the ever popular “Fat Bottom Granny Bag”, with a separate lining that could be worked into the bag without sewing through the crochet square, and with neat, sturdy handles.
My version of the bag has a neat collar which keeps the contents from tumbling out even when the bag is carelessly plopped down somewhere.
The very generous size of the bag makes it great for toting around personals (purse, phone, make-up etc), as well as a small knitting or crochet project. It also makes a super project bag as it can take quite a few balls of yarn with ease.
The pattern is written for DK Acrylic yarn, but works equally well with acrylic / wool blends as well as cottons and jute. A variegated yarn is a clever choice for the bag - providing a change of colour without having to sew in too many ends. This design is also a clever scrap / stash buster. Change colours every round to use up odds and ends of yarn!
The perfect all year round gift for a special lady of any age. Make it in brights or neons for a teenage girl or in more muted shades for grandma.
