Are you looking for a hat this is a fun, simple knit but not too boring? (You know the one I’m talking about.) Well, is this the hat for you—cables, garter stitch, stockinette stitch, seed stitch, ribbing, knits, purls—it’s got it going on.

This is a great hat pattern for an advanced beginner to show off your newly acquired mad skills—and it’s actually a pretty cool hat.

Gauge:
16 sts and 22 rows in a 4x4 inch square, using size 5 needles, in stockinette stitch.

Materials:
Yarn--Lion Brand Heartland Yarn in Katmai, worsted weight category 4 (a very nice, soft yarn) or any yarn to obtain gauge.
Needles--Size 5 16” circular needles for brim, size 8 for body of hat (use whatever length circular needle to
accommodate stitches worked in the round)
Cable needle
Darning needle for weaving in ends
Stitch marker
Size 8 double pointed needles for finishing top of hat

Stitches used/abbreviations:
k knit
p purl
k2tog= knit 2 together
CO=cast on
eor= end of round
c3f= cable 3 front; place 3 sts on cable needle, hold to front of work, knit next 3 sts, then knit 3 sts off of cable needle
seed stitch (knit the purl stitches, purl the knit stitches on subsequent row, repeat)
garter stitch (knit every row)
stockinette stitch (knit right side, purl wrong side)
