Got to Roll Me
These socks are truly Make It Yours - Suitable for scraps or busy yarns as the main color, with OPTIONAL colorwork in the leg being 2 semi-solid colors. The colorwork is simple.
A separate color may be used for toes and heels.
Top down the socks start with a few more stitches than usual if doing the optional colorwork, then decrease to proper size. Toe-up the socks are knitted in stockinette in usual sizes and increase slightly if doing the optional colorwork, helping to ensure that the colorwork won’t be too tight.
Sizes available: 40, 48, 56, 64 and 72 stitches (12 stitch size/ yarn weight combinations). Pattern suitable for 2 fingering yarns held double, one fingering yarn alone, or Sport weight yarn.
Materials:
- approx. 70 grams of scraps or a busy MC, and 15 grams each of 2 contrasting colors for the pattern. A separate color may be used for toes and heels. Main color is suitable for scraps, stripes, and busy yarns.
- 4 to 8 stitch markers
- Needles: DPNs, 9” circular, or long circular for magic loop, in size needed for a good cloth in the yarn you’re using.
- one die of a pair of dice or the virtual roller at random.org/dice
- Since the pattern has many make-it-your-own variables, I suggest a highlighter marker to mark the parts you want to do.
Pattern:
- is written for toe-up or top-down either one.
has a fairly easy pattern
- is a formula, and the knitter may apply their own favorite toe/heel/cast off. I have included an “Elegant Toe(c),” plus pertinent links in case the knitter is unfamiliar with a different toe or heel technique.
- is written in 12 possible size/yarn weight combinations involving 40, 48, 56, 64. and 72 stitches
- is both written and charted
- is suitable for scraps or practically any yarn. I do suggest the optional colorwork, if elected, be done in a strong contrasting color.
