Gotas means Raindrops in Spanish, because the colorwork designs reminds me of raindrops on a window in a rainy afternoon.

The Gotas Cowl pattern is meant to be an introduction to stranded colorwork, and as a prove of concept for color dominance. There are instructions in the pattern to switch the main and contrasting color to create that visual “line” at the middle.
The pattern includes useful links to relevant blog posts and video tutorials for beginners or for people who want to dig deeper and have a better understanding of color dominance.

For more information you can read this article: https://handmadefibertreats.wordpress.com/2021/08/19/knit...

This pattern is also part of the Gotas eBook where a matching beanie is available.

They make for quick and fun gifts. Knitted in worsted weight they fly of the needles. Just pick 2 favorite colors, or a favorite and a neutral and start making cowls and beanies for everyone. Yourself included of course!

Construction:

This cowl is worked in the round, bottom-up.

Size:
The instructions are given for a cowl 55cm/22in circumference and 23cm/9in tall. Both the cowl circumference and height can be adjusted.

Gauge:
10 cm = 20 sts and 26 rounds in Stockinette stitch in the round or 24 sts and 23 rows in Colorwork Pattern.

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in mustard (A) and moss green (B), I used Nevilan from Hilados LHO (60% acrylic, 40% wool), 50 grams (80 m /85 yards) of each color. You can easily adapt this pattern for other yarn weights, instructions for doing so are given inside the pattern.

  • DPNs or circular needles US 4 (3.50 mm) for ribbing and US 6 (4.00 mm) for the body of the cowl, or needle size required to obtain gauge.

  • 1 stitch marker

  • Tapestry needle

  • Scissors
