The design of the Gothic Rose cowl has Paris wound through it in many ways. The magnificence of the arching, vaulted ceilings of the gothic Notre Dame de Paris is the inspiration for the geometric lace that flares and tapers along the length of the worsted weight cowl.

Gothic Rose is worked in one piece from end to end. A garter stitch border surrounds the lace central panel, which uses simple stitches to great effect. Buttonholes are worked at one end and buttons are attached to the other after blocking.

Gothic Rose is generously sized at 152 cm long and 30 cm wide. It can be wrapped once, twice or three times, and it can also be worn as a scarf.

The pattern has both full charts and line by line written instructions.

When blocked, stocking stitch gauge is 14 stitches and 18 rows in 10cm (4 in), however exact gauge is not essential for this pattern.

The pattern has been test knitted by Rezo, Fenlinka, chickennanna, onecraftymumma, steelelady and petkat. Thanks for your contribution to the pattern.
