Grace
Grace is the twelfth pattern added to the 7 Hats More ebook.
Classic shape, clean lines and beautiful yarns all come together to create a graceful hat with a vintage look.
The stitches are simple to allow the yarns to shine. Stockinette and ribbing are classic notes that allow the smaller details to pop.
The ribbed band is closed with a detail button or small brooch. I choose a vintage brooch that could be changed to co-ordinate the cloche with what ever I was wearing.
This cloche styled hat is knit with two yarns held together to create a depth of colour and texture that one yarn usually cannot give.
Materials: 200 m, 220 yds each of a fingering weight yarn and a lace weight mohair, sample was knit with Fleece Artist Angel Hair (anise colourway) and Merino Slim (violet colourway) held together, 3.25mm US #3 2 dpns or straights for ribbing and 3.75mm US #5 16inch circ and dpns for hat body, special button or small brooch for the hat band, markers and the regular notions.
Gauge: working with both yarns held together for both swatches – working with smaller needle, 1 x 1 ribbing, 9 sts and 7 ½ rows makes one inch without stretching or blocking; working with larger needles, stockinette, 24 sts and 32 rounds makes 4 inches without stretching or blocking.
