Grace Notes Knit Doll
Grace Notes, like her namesake, is a small knit doll with lots of charm. She is knit in the round on dpns; tightly so her stuffing won’t show. The doll takes approximately one ounce of light worsted yarn for the body, and variable amounts for the hair, depending on how you style it.
Grace Notes has a re-enforced neck that allows you to joint the head to the neck, making it move-able. This gives her lots of pose-able possibilites, and is very easy to do.
Six stitches to the inch is a tight gauge for light worsted yarn. I found that wool and wool blend yarns worked up easier than acrylic, as the acrylic yarn seems to ‘grab’ the needle and make sliding the stitches off the needle more difficult.
I used lifted increases instead of knit-front-back for most of the doll construction. It makes a virtually invisible increase.
Yarns for hair can be just about anything, but I really like wool, mohair, and eyelash yarns. Mix them up and use several different yarns for some really fun hair.
Patterns for clothing will be available soon.
