♥ Instructions are included on how to create your own ombre skein of yarn, in your own kitchen, using either Kool-Aid, food coloring, or easter egg dying tablets! No dying experience needed! All three ways turn out completely colorfast, your yarn will hold its color and won’t bleed. You won’t be dividing yarn into separate skeins, or doing anything complicated. You will need to pre-knit your skein beforehand either on a knitting machine if it is available, an I-cord maker, or even yourself on big needles. You can also use a ready made sock blank (sold on Etsy and various other places). Other than that, all you need is one skein of wool yarn, and a pot on the stove.
♥ This top down shawl pattern is a simplistic, modern design, perfect to show off any yarn you fancy, not just an ombre one. It’s a great relaxing knit for afternoons in the spring sun or evenings spent reading. It has plenty of space for customization such as stripes, duplicate stitch, or a special edging. You can use anything from lace weight to chunky to handspun. The pattern does not use a single m1 stitch and you don’t even need a stitch marker!
♥ I used a 100g skein of Knit Picks Chroma Fingering (in the natural colorway) and size 2 1/2 (3mm) needles. 396 yards gave me a great size for throwing on with a vest or tank top in the summer, or under a jacket in the winter. You can make this larger or smaller by using more or less yarn.
