This asymmetrical triangular shawl is perfect for showcasing beautiful hand dyed gradient yarns. It’s a care free knit with sprints of plain stocking (stockinette) stitch allowing the glorious gradient yarn to sing out. Intermittent bands of textural interest are provided with bands of garter stitch and easy eyelet stripes in a neutral colour. This adds interest for the eyes, as well as a change of pace for the knitting. This project offers optimum impact for minimal effort. It’s great for times when undemanding knitting is desired such as for social knitting, watching TV, or when you simply need the comfort of satisfying knitting with little mental effort.

You can use any 4ply (fingering) weight yarn, but you’ll achieve the best result if you opt for a beautiful and luxurious gradient yarn, or one of those gradient set of yarns you might have fallen in love with and not been quite sure what to so with. Natural fibres such as wool or wool and silk mix will hit the spot.

In this project we have used Dyeninja High Twist Merino Fingering for colour 1 and Bilum Slika hand dyed gradient 4 ply for Colour 2.

You will need to use 4 ply (fingering weight) yarn, in your chosen colours. You will need approximately 1 skein in each colour.
Colour 1: Limestone; 100g/365m
Colour 2: Yellow to blue gradient; 100g/400m

Finished dimensions
Approximately 230cm wide and 55cm deep after blocking. Final measurements will vary depending on how aggressively the shawl is blocked.

The shawl is knitted flat, but a circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches there will at the cast off edge.
Shaping is worked at the edges of every row, and the number of stitches will increase by 1 for every 2 rows worked.
