Graine
There’s a chill in the air, as a cool breeze ripples through the trees. Curl your hands around a hot cup of tea and watch as the steam kisses the cold air.
These simple and classic fingerless mitts/gloves feature textured seed stitch on the back of the hand, and a 2x2 tubular bind off. Long cuffs stop cold drafts from sneaking up your sleeves, and a little bit of extra length in the hand means that you can fold the ribbing back, or pull them down over your fingers when the wind starts to bite.
Made with a non-superwash pure wool, they are knit in the round from the cuff down. The thumb stitches are placed on hold and then worked in the round after the body is complete. Only a tiny amount of contrast yarn is needed for the cast on and bind off - perfect for using the odd bit of leftover yarn from your stash!
Yarn: Any sport weight or heavy fingering weight that works to gauge
Techniques used: long tail cast on, 2x2 tubular bind off, simple increases and decreases, picking up stitches
Suitable for an intermediate knitter.
