Grainger Town
DESCRIPTION
Grainger Town is considered to be the historic heart of Newcastle and features many four-storey buildings with vertical dormers, domes, turrets, and spikes that are characteristic of Tyneside Classical architecture. Some of Newcastle’s finest buildings and streets lie within Grainger Town, including Grainger Market, Theatre Royal, and Grey Street, which runs south from Grey’s Monument and curves slowly to the east while also descending to the River Tyne.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This hat is knit from the bottom up with all yarn being held double. The cable to the left in the rib represents the movement of Grey Street down to the river. The four-round stripes reflect the four storeys of the buildings that line the streets. Symmetrical decreases are worked at the crown to finish off the hat.
