Gramps Cardigan - P139
This cardigan is both practical and classical and would be suitable for everyday wear. Cardigan is worked in a simple all over pattern, in one piece from the bottom up to armholes, then divided for Fronts and Back. Left Front is worked next, then Back and lastly the Right Front. Sleeves are worked separately.
Left and Right Front bands are worked separately then joined at centre back and seamed to front opening and back neck edge.
Seaming is required. Pattern comes with a schematic and chart for all over pattern.
AGE APPROX 0-6m -- 6-12m -- 12-18m -- 2 yrs -- 4 yrs -- 6 yrs -- 8 yrs -- 10 yrs
MATERIALS REQUIRED --- Cardigan was knitted in Bellissimo 100% Merino Extra-fine 5. 170m (186 yards) per 50g ball.
Bellissimo -- 3 3 : 4 : 4 : 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 x 50g balls
Other suitable yarn would be Lana Grosia Meilenweit 50, 210m per 50g ball)
OR Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 170m per 50g ball -- 3 3 : 4 : 4 : 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 x 50g balls
3.25mm (US 3 : UK 10) circular needles or extra long straight needles.
One pair 3.25mm (US 3 : UK 10) needles
3mm (US 2/3 : UK 11) circular needles, or extra long straight needles
4 4 : 5 : 5 : 6 : 7: 7 : 8 buttons
TENSION / GAUGE
28 stitches x 40 rows = 10cm (4in) worked in pattern on 3.25mm (US 3 : UK 10) needles.
Please note: It is is very important to achieve the above tension (especially for the row) to ensure the correct measurements are achieved as per pattern.
