GRAMPS socks are fun to knit and combine 2 of my favourite techniques of working with colour: simple stranded 1x1 colourwork and slipped stitch knitting. The majority of the socks (leg and foot) are worked using a slipped stitch technique which creates fun vertical stripes and uses only one colour per round. The bottoms of the heels and toes are worked in simple 1x1 stranded colourwork that will add extra durability to your socks.
All the pattern measurements are given for fingering / sock weight yarn, however the pattern contain tips and suggestions on how to adjust it for any other yarn weight.
SIZES AND FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
(1, 2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7, 8) equivalent to (44, 48, 52, 56) (60, 64, 68, 72) sts
Finished sock circumference: (13, 14, 15, 16.5) (18, 19, 20, 21) cm / (5.25, 5.5, 6, 6.5) (7.25, 7.5, 8, 8.5) inches (unstretched after light blocking). Please consider that your socks need to fit with a negative ease of 10 - 20% when choosing the size.

Please note that your actual yarn consumption will depend on yarn choice, gauge and any alterations you might make to the pattern.
GAUGE:
34 sts / 44 rnds per 10 cm / 4 inches in slip stitch pattern after washing and light blocking (not stretched).
NEEDLES:
For fingering weight yarn:
2.25 mm / US 1 circular needles for magic loop or other to achieve gauge in the slip stitch pattern and 1x1 colourwork.
Please note that needle size is just a suggestion, you might need to change the size of your needles to achieve gauge. Consider using needles half a size bigger for the heel turn and toes in case you tend to knit colourwork tight
