Grandma Home Socks are colorwork socks with standard heel flap and toe, and come in 3 sizes. The colorwork parts of the sock are provided in charts.
Colorwork patterns of Grandma Home Socks came from Japanese traditional patterns. The front side pattern is called “Asanoha”. It means a wish to healthy growth of children. Pattern on the back side of the leg came from “Yoshiwara-tsunagi”, which means relationship. The pattern on the sole was designed by me to go with the other patterns.
These socks remind me of my grandmother’s home…so I named them “Grandma Home Socks”.

Needles:
2 sizes of needles are suggested below or are needed to obtain the correct gauge.
32” / 80 cm circular needles or DPNs.
Smaller needles(for single-color part) 2.5 mm
Larger needles(for colorwork part) 3.0 mm
Gauge (after blocking):
Single-color stockinette stitch with smaller needles 32 sts and 45 rnds = 4” / 10 cm
Colorwork with larger needles 32 sts and 32 rnds = 4” / 10 cm

グランドマホームソックスの編み込み模様は日本の伝統模様からきています。前面の模様は“麻の葉”、子供の健康な成長を願う意味があります。レッグの後面の模様は“吉原繋ぎ”からきています。人の繋がりを意味する模様です。底の模様は他の模様に合うように、私が作りました。このソックスはおばあちゃんの家を思い出させるのです。だからこの名前をつけました。
