Grandma's Baby Romper
The inspiration for this pattern came from happy memories of my grandma’s knits when we were children mixed with the need to knit for a friend who was expecting.
This pattern for baby overalls is fantastic one-ball seamless knit, perfect for the short project or when on the go/travelling. It is sized from newborn size up to about 100 cm length. The pattern allows the baby to grow within this garment as the straps with three buttons each allow for 3 sizes and the ribbing at the bottom of the legs can be folded over for the shorter sizes. The bulky lower body should be sufficient for both cloth and paper nappies, the ribbing at the waistline helps to hug and hide the nappies.
In this free pattern I give you the instructions for the stockinette variety. I am trying to make this pattern as versatile as possible – useful for the beginner knitter by giving detailed step-by-step instructions as well as for the experienced knitter who can then adapt this pattern to any yarn/weight/needle size they like.
