Grandma's Slippers
This pattern has been around for ages. Many grandmothers made these slippers for their grandkids. My friend, Janet, wrote out the pattern that her grandma taught her, and I typed it up for her. There are many slight variations out there, but here is our contribution. (Janet unexpectedly passed away in April 2020. She will be missed.)
I made these for my dad who actually wears them quite frequently. He is very picky about having things on his feet, but he likes these slippers.
They are quite easy to make. They are knit flat and then seamed up.
Difficulty: **
Skills needed: knit, purl, k2tog decrease, picking up stitches, cast on, bind off
You will need 200g of worsted weight yarn to make a pair of slippers. The yarn is held double, so you will need two skeins and will be using both at the same time.
Needles: straights or 24” circulars;
Size: US 9 (women’s); US 10.5 (men’s)
Notions: 2 stitch markers, 1 removable stitch marker, yarn needle, crochet hook (optional) for picking up stitches
