This shawl features a small old school, flowery pattern that cuts up the otherwise monochromatic colour palette with a little bit of texture. To avoid too much romance, stripes and a ribbed border keep everything fresh and contemporary.
The increases are worked mostly with yarn overs that add vertical lines of tiny eye-lets to the horizontal bands of the design.
A fun combination of “granny-chic” and easy to wear shape to throw around the shoulders on cool summer evenings as a classic shawl or as an elaborate scarf around the neck during winter time.
The shawl is worked in easy to memorise, similar sections: In total it has 9 Pattern repeats and a ribbed border all around.
Because of this, it’s quite a straightforward project which does not demand much concentration (only on increase rows and at the patterned rows, one needs to keep track of what is happening). The increases follow a very simple sequence logic that can be worked out after a couple of repetitions that is easy to follow intuitively, so that you could effortless add more repeats (if substituting with a finer yarn) and work on this shawl in front of the TV or at the beach!
All techniques and methods are either explained in the pattern itself with attached photo tutorials, or links are provided that point to web-tutorials.
A big Grazie to Michela LaMicky for translating this pattern into Italian!
Un grand merci à Patricia patamodeler pour la traduction en Français!
