Granny Cardigan
Use any yarn, any hook, any gauge and make to any size
Granny “square” cardigan.
This cardigan is made with two 6 sided granny motifs, which are joined together to form this great little cardigan, which can be worked to any size.
The two motifs are crocheted with same method of increasing that you use on a standard granny square.
Materials:
Any suitable yarn can be used as the cardigan is worked to size and not a number of stitches.
Use at least a half size bigger hook than normal for the yarn. e.g. 4.5mm for standard DK yarn. Depending on the yarn sometimes I go a size or a size and a half larger.
The amount of yarn required will vary.
For the Pink cardigan shown I used standard DK, 4.5mm hook, approximately 240m of yarn for 21inch chest. The measurement from start to straight edge is 5 inches.
After the cardigan is sewn together you may wish to add extra rows to lengthen the sleeves and/or the body especially on larger sizes.
Larger cardigan pictured has additional rows on sleeves and body
This pattern is written in UK English.
It is an easy pattern but you should be familiar with standard granny squares and basic crochet stitches if you are new to crochet.
Although this pattern sounds complicated once you get the idea of the method to make the cardigan it becomes an easy make so please persevere.
The patterns are in a PDF format and you can print them.
