Great-Granny Fletcher was an odd bird.
On the surface, she appeared to be what people expected from a woman of her era; but Granny was just a little different from the other ladies of her day.

This “half-a-granny” follows suit ~ it’s just a little different than the other birds & different than outward appearances lead one to believe.

This “wingspan” of this half-granny grows wider as the body grows in depth giving it a somewhat obtuse angle which, as many people have noted, makes it easier to wear.

The gauge listed is for worsted yarn because that is what my original sample was worked in, but…
…Thanks to the nature of this pattern, it will work for ANY yarn and any hook - and any combination of the two; so use that gorgeous yarn that you don’t want to waste a drop of!

I love using a “little bigger than recommended by the yarn” size hook for this shawl; the looser gauge gives a comfy feel and makes blocking out the full width of the long edge easier. And, honestly, I just love a little more drape whenever possible.

This shawl is dedicated to Great-Granny Fletcher!
You rock my world!
