Modern look for a classic granny square blanket. Make your own Granny Pinwheel Blanket and increase the beauty of your home decor. This blanket consists of 48 granny squares joined together with a mattress stitch and assembled with one row of half double crochet. You can easily adjust blanket size according to your preferences and make it as big or small as you’d like.
Materials & Tools:
1. Yarn Drops Paris 100% Cotton (50g/75m), 19 balls:
9 balls of Mustard (41),
5 balls of Off White (17),
5 balls of Black (15).
- Hook size 5 mm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
- Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends)
- Scissors
Level: Intermediate – magic ring, playing with three yarns, mattress stitch join
Gauge after blocking:
Each square measures 14cm.
Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and the finished size.
Size after blocking:
Finished blanket measures approx. 85 x 112 cm.
Notes:
• The single square has 5 rounds but you can make your square as large as you’d like by adding/subtracting rounds.
• Blanket is joined using a Mattress Stitch (tutorial on my blog http://mycrochetory.com/mattress-stitch-join-tutorial/) and later framed with a half double crochet.
• If you are planning on making a different size keep in mind that cotton blankets tend to get heavy. You can use any type of yarn for that pattern.
