Granny Square Accent Pillow
This fun, decorative throw pillow is an inexpensive way to add pizazz to any room in the house. Each side of the pillow has 9 squares. Each square begins with 3 rounds worked in bright colors. Then, outline each square with a row of single crochet in a contrasting color, preferably dark to give emphasis to the center colors. For the final touch, each of the 9 squares is finished off with a granny round in the main color, in this case the color is white. Once the squares are assembled, one more round in the main color is worked. Each side panel of the pillow is identical, so you’ll work 18 squares total. Both pieces are stitched together around the pillow form with a single crochet border.
This is one accessory that works up quickly!
Skill level: This pattern is appropriate for beginner crocheters with a bit of stitching experience.
Yarn: 1 skein of white (or main color), scraps of 9 vibrant center colors, and navy (or contrasting dark color) for an accent.
