Granny Square Bucket Hat
This pattern is inspired by the British summer. It’s a quick make and great for using up your scraps. The pattern will make a medium sized hat (around 22 inches measured around your head above your eyebrows). If you would like it bigger or smaller, I would suggest going up or down a hook size.
If you make this hat in one solid colour, you shouldn’t need more than 200 yards of DK yarn, using a 4mm hook. Change colour after any row within the pattern as you desire, just join your new yarn where the previous row finished or where the row tells you to begin. I have included some pictures for inspiration on the last page. As this hat is made up of different panels I would recommend weaving in the ends as you go so it’s not a massive job at the end (especially if you’re using a lot of colours!). Please check your tension before starting the pattern.
Each part of the pattern is worked in the round. Each Ch3 at the beginning of a round counts as the first DC stitch. Each Ch1 at the beginning of a round counts as a SC.
For this pattern you will need:
● DK Yarn in your choice of colours
● 4mm hook
● Scissors
● Embroidery needle to weave in ends
Tension/gauge: 8 rows of 15 DC stitches = W:8.5cm L:9cm
