The crocheted granny square is so versatile: it can be used in blankets and throws, cushion covers, scarves, place mats and even dog coats!
This coat has been custom-made for a skinny whippet and is made up of a rectangle of 20 squares (50cm x40cm) with two extra squares added at the head-end for the neck fastening. Simply adapt the number of squares to fit any size dog and choose yarn from your stash - the more colourful the better.
You can work the granny squares the traditional way, in rounds of different colours, joining each new colour into a corner space of the next round or you can follow the instructions for using a single yarn - a special note for this technique is given on the pattern page.
