Granny's Potholder
This is a replica of a potholder my Granny crocheted, probably around 100 years ago. It was passed on to my mom and then to me. It was used for many years to put her old tea pot on.
By looking at the potholder and swatching, I was finally able to come up with a pattern that looks very close to the original.
The original potholder was crocheted in fine cotton and measures 6” square. My piece (the white one in the photos) measures 9” square.
I made the same potholder using Bernat Handcrafter cotton (the pink one in the photos) and it measured 11” square, a good size for putting a large pot on the table.
To make one potholder, I used about half a ball of Bernat Softee Baby cotton and almost a whole ball of Bernat Handcrafter cotton.
