Granny's Tea Cosy
I have an abiding memory of my grandmother’s kitchen with a fresh pot of tea on the table covered in a very brightly coloured cosy. It was extremely well-loved, having been used for years, and was made from a real assortment of yarns and colours. As it was my grandmother who taught me how to knit, I thought it would be nice to re-create this design and share it with other knitters. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 2007 and died in 2009 and I shall be donating 50% of the pattern sales to the Alzheimer’s Society (www.alzheimers.org.uk).
The design itself is formed from a very simple pattern of slipped stitches with decreases towards the top of the pot. As it is made in two halves, it can be seamed to fit your tea pot perfectly.
The yardage is based on the fact that the finished object weighs approximately 50g and would assume the use of one colour.
