Granny's Wardrobe
This pattern is a combination of Granny’s cardigan, Granny’s rompers and Granny’s shorts, resulting in a new pattern Granny’s wardrobe. Instructions are given for the generously proportioned cardigan in four sizes, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months and 12-18 months and for the rompers and shorts in four sizes, 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months and 9-12 months.
The rompers are knitted bottom up. The back and front are worked to the top of the leg openings as separate pieces and are joined to knit the body in one piece. The front and back are separated again to work the front and back bib sections. Once the side seam is completed, stitches are picked up around the leg openings to work the leg borders.
The shorts are knitted in a single piece, starting at the back, decreasing for the crotch and then increasing for the front. Before joining the side seams the leg openings are worked in garter stitch.
This lacy pattern is deceptively easy as there are only 4 rows. This design is suitable for a confident beginner. If two colours are used a wavy striped pattern is created.
The mallest size shorts can be knitted from a single ball of yarn, the 12-18 months cardigan requires 4 balls.
