Grapes on the vine shawl
The new Grapes on the vine is a super cozy big crescent shawl. It’s one of those feel good pieces, so perfect for the upcoming seasons~
Knitted top down with the side edges constantly and evenly increasing with really big eyelets. Another giant eyelet pattern runs all along the bottom border, resembling big juicy grapes and then of course the colors are spot on too, don’t you think?
The knitting is a breeze as it is created with an aran weight yarn, so this shawl grows very quickly!
NOTE: The last eyelet row at the bottom of the shawl is correct as written and yes, it decreases the stitch count. The big needle and the aran weight yarn make any eyelets/yarn overs really big, so it works here. If there were more repeat rows though, it wouldn’t work as well.
The pattern is fully written and also offers a chart. The blocked measurements are 85” in overall length and 22” in middle height.
Yarn used here
Two “Wheely” cakes in a self striping Aran weight yarn are all wound for you to get started immediately when your kit arrives. 165 yards/100 grams each in an incredibly soft Acrylic yarn, which I usually don’t do but this one is definite yes.
Notions needed
US size 19 (15 mm) circular needle, 40” (102 cm) in length.
Tapestry needle or crochet hook for finishing.
Gauge: 7 sts and 10 rows in 4” of Stockinette stitch.
Techniques applied
Knitting and purling, eyelets, increasing, binding off, weaving in ends and blocking for best results.
