Gratitude square
I have designed this floral block to celebrate Granny Square Day 2024!
The centre is a morning glory flower, used to symbolise the beauty of the dawn and to remind us to embrace each day with gratitude.
The flower is created first, before adding the background which turns the flower into a circle, then a traditional granny square, to be incorporated within your granny square projects.
This uses small amounts of DK yarn in 4 colours, making it a great stash buster. It is 10cm square but additional rounds can easily be added to make the square bigger.
I used a variety of blues, purples and pinks from the Yarnsmiths Create DK range.
The hand dyed version uses sock yarn by Rosie’s Moments and Bellica yarns, with a size 3mm hook. I also added beads to the centre of these.
I hope you may experiment with different yarns and colours and look forward to seeing your creations!
