Somewhere in our neighborhood lives a beautiful gray tomcat. He has adopted us as his second family and visits us several times a day to get some food and some love. He has done so for many years already, so of course he had to be included in this pattern collection. We named him Grautier (meaning gray animal, but also a word for a donkey). If Grautier were a human, I’d imagine him as an old-school gentleman with a hat and an elegant scarf, so I used the stitch pattern I designed for him for a scarf or, if you prefer, for a cowl.
The stitch pattern is written out as well as charted.

Size:
13 cm [5’’] wide, 126 cm [49.5’’] long
Width and length are easily adjustable

Blocked Gauge:
1 pattern repeat (24 sts and 12 rows) = 10 cm [4”]
wide and 4.2 cm [1.6”] high

Materials:
Svarta Fåret Soft Lama (50 g [1.76 oz], 100 m
[110 yd], 100 % llama), two balls in #5 nature
or worsted weight yarn of your choice, approx.
200 m [220 yd] for a cowl approx. 120 cm long
and 13 cm wide; 300 m [330 yd] for a scarf
approx. 180 cm long and 13 cm wide.
4 mm [US 6] straight or 40 cm circular needles
2 Stitch Markers
Cable needle

Notes:
Gauge is not vital for this project, but it will affect
the size of the finished object and the yardage
you need
The piece is worked as a scarf and then, if a
cowl is desired, joined by seaming or kitchener
stitch

Designer Notes:
I’m a loose knitter, so you may want to try bigger
needles if you aren’t
I used all of my two balls for a 126 cm cowl,
you may want to have a little extra yarn to be
safe

Irgendwo in unserer Nachbarschaft lebt ein wunderschöner, grauer Kater. Er hat uns als seine zweite Familie adoptiert und besucht uns mehrmals täglich, um sich Essen und Liebe abzuholen. Deshalb habe ich das Muster, das ich für ihn designt habe, für einen Schal oder – wenn Du das lieber magst - einen Cowl verwendet. Das Strickmuster ist sowohl als Chart als auch ausgeschrieben vorhanden.

Anmerkungen:
Die Maschenprobe ist nicht entscheidend für das Gelingen, beeinflusst aber die Grösse des fertigen Strickstücks und den Garnverbrauch
Das Strickstück wird als Schal gearbeitet und dann, falls ein Cowl gewünscht wird, zugenäht oder im Maschenstich geschlossen
Anmerkungen der Designerin:
Ich stricke eher locker, eventuell werden dickere Nadeln benötigt
Ich habe meine zwei Knäuel komplett aufgebraucht für einen 126 cm langen Cowl, wenn Du ganz sicher gehen willst, solltest Du ein Extraknäuel haben
