Here’s a lace patterned vest with a bit of a twist - the left side of the body (front and back) and right side of the body are worked separately, then joined at the upper back and shoulders. The remainder of the back is laced together using a ribbon yarn or ribbon. The front is closed using beads attached to the ribbon (you could also use the ribbon or ribbon yarn to lace the front edges together and pull the vest over your head to wear it). Narrow bands of garter edge the hem, neck, armholes and front/back edges.
If you don’t want to lace the backs together, you can join the entire (or part of) the back edgings using 3-Needle BO. But why not use this as an opportunity to show off your creativity by choice of ribbon and beads?
