Great Barrier Reef Lace Shawl
A beautiful heirloom lace shawl, perfect for a baby, a christening, a throw, a blanket, a bedspread or just because you love knitting lace.
Approximately 47 inches square on the blocking pins (120cm)
Tension is not important for this project but on the blocking pins, the central lace motif is 20 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches.
This shawl has been designed to be a fairly easy project. The instructions are very clearly explained and include both charts and written instructions and it uses simple lace motifs that are easy to memorise.
The shawl is knitted from 4ply fingering weight yarn - again, making for an easier project than the finer 1ply and 2 ply yarns I usually design lace shawls with.
As you knit the shawl, it creates a lovely 3D texture which reminds me of waves at some of the wonderful Australian beaches. These waves inspired me to name the shawl after the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, in the Pacific Ocean north east of Australia.
