Great Wave Shawl
If you downloaded the pattern between May 31 and June 2, check for an update to the Picot Bind Off instructions throughout the pattern. They’ve been ubdated to be more specific and now have a companion video. It shows my weird special way of doing the bind off and how it fits into Row 16.
check out the forum thread if you have questions or want to share your color choices.
“The Great Wave off Kanagawa” is, arguably, the best known piece made by master Japanese print maker Hokusai Katsushika. The woodcut shows the rough, foaming waters of the sea tossing the small boats of fisherman as they make their way through rough waters.
This 2 color brioche shawl mimics the wave shape of the rough seas in the famous woodcut. The triangular shape is slightly curved to better wrap around your body and has an easy motif along the side and end. The size of your wave is fully adjustable and can be created in any weight yarn. The pattern document contains a chart for different yarn weights and the needle sized to make the fabric density and drape desired.
A series of videos for the brioche pattern can be found on my
Brioche Knit Tips YouTube Playlist.
