Green Gables
This little bag is inspired by one of the most influential books of my childhood: Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The story of the feisty, dreamy orphan girl, who finds her true home in Green Gables with Matthew and Marilla, is still one of my favourite tales.
I tried to immitate the building type of the original Green Gables House near Cavendish on Prince Edward Island, Canada, but used different colours. For the handle and tassels I chose an orange red to immitate Anne’s unbeloved red hair and her plaits.
It’s a small bag with a long handle, intended for reaching the hips. Knit in one piece with a Bulky-Weight-Yarn on 6mm/US 10 needles, it is a really quick knit. This design features some stranded colourwork, seed stitches in one and two colours (on the back opposite of the stranded colourwork) and an easy-cable-handle. Use it for carrying a book or smaller things like wallets, keys etc. or knit one for a child (with a shorter handle).
Materials: 1x 6mm / US 10 Circular needles
1x 6mm Cable needle (for handle)
1x tapestry needle (for weaving in yarn ends and sewing on the handle)
2x marker (for beginning of round/colourwork and ending of colourwork)
1x 5/H crochet hook (for attaching tassels)
2x snap fasteners (optional)
