GREEN SEA TURTLES ALWAYS FIND THEIR WAY BACK TO YOU
The green sea turtles have an exceptionally good sense of direction. They always find their way back to their beloved beach where they once hatched from their egg. Speaking of eggs… Did you know that green sea turtles lay up to 100 ping pong ball-sized eggs per clutch? And they do this several times a week. The eggs then take up to three months to develop and hatch into a baby turtle. And then the temperature on the beach determines the sex. While only males hatch at 28 °C, only females hatch at 32 °C. The baby turtles then dig themselves out of the sand on their own and rush to the sea. There they can then live up to 50 years and reach a weight of up to 190 kg.
The green sea turtles belongs to the best known species. The name refers to the shell, which has on the top usually different shades of brown with greenish or dark brown areas. So you can crochet the shell of your Tila the turtle in the shades that you like best.

COMPONENTS AND WORKING STEPS
Head, body and tail of Shila the turtle are crocheted in one piece.
All parts of the face are crocheted separately and pinned to the head to find the right position, and then sewn on it. The eyes consist of eyeballs and eyelids. There is an upper beak and the lower beak.
The two front legs and the two back legs are crocheted, also pinned to the body first to find the right position and then sewn onto the body.
The back shell is made up of 14 separate pieces that are crocheted one at a time. These parts are then gradually sewn together with embroidery stitch and the edge is still decorated with embroidery stitch.
Now the belly shell of the turtle is crocheted. Belly shell and back shell are also pinned to the body first. Finally, the back shell and belly shell are sewn together while the body is stuck in between.
