Greenleaf (aka: Still the Prettiest)
The instructions are entirely charted.
For some reason Legolas is rather often the butt of fan-ish in-jokes, but really, he’s an exceptionally good egg. He’s a simple sort of elf; he loves trees, hanging out with his best bros, and (in the movies anyway) somewhat unnecessary exposition. This scarf (er, shawlette, er, something rather between the two), is for him. It features an abundance of leaves, set in motion by the dynamic stitch changes and the softly-undulating stripes of forest colors, and a light, airy, yet warm fabric, not unlike the finest elvish cloaks. Like Legolas himself it is masculine, as these things are reckoned by elves, though your mileage may vary on that score.
This pattern was inspired by the lovely Saroyan shawl by Liz Abinante.
The construction is quite simple and could be adjusted for a variety of yarn weights and needle sizes. It does show off long-repeat gradient sock yarns beautifully though, and if made as written uses a 100 gr skein with almost no waste.
Errata: There is a mistake in Chart 1 on Row 65, the last two stitches should be K2tog, K1
I won’t have time to correct and re-issue the chart for a few months, so if you have already bought the pattern please take 25% off any other pattern in my store with the code ‘Oops’**
