Greensleeves Tablet Cozy
I thought this stitch reminded me of leaves… I had this leftover green yarn in my stash, perfect for making a leafy cozy for a tablet. The pattern stitch was based on the “Open 9” stitch from Super Stitches Crochet: Essential techniques plus a dictionary of more than 180 stitch patterns by Jennifer Campbell and Ann-Marie Bakewell, 2007.
The pattern is designed for an iPad. The cozy is about 8 inches wide and 10.25 inches long. To change the size of the sleeve for a different tablet, increase or decrease the starting chain by multiples of 2, keeping it an even number.
To determine the gauge, I just measured the number of dc3tog clusters in a 4 inch section of row, and the number of rows in 4 inches along the length. It is not precise; find something that works for you and your tablet. The starting chain should fit pretty snugly around your tablet, because the dc3tog stitches will be a bit looser, if that makes sense.
You will need a 1” diameter button, thread, and sewing needle (that fits through the button holes) to finish this cozy.
I’m not sure on the exact yardage of yarn necessary to complete this project, since I created it using a leftover skein from my stash, but it did not take anywhere near a full skein of Red Heart Super-Saver.
