Overlay Mosaic Crochet Pattern
Gretchen’s Spring Garden Placemat / Pillow
This pattern can be made into a placemat or a throw pillow.
Finished size: 17” x 16”
This pattern repeats and is easy to make longer for a table runner.

Yarn Amounts:
Color A - Honeydew (pale green) - 129 yards
Color B - Medium to Dark Pink - 166 yards
Optional - you may choose to reverse the light and dark colors as shown in the photo of the blue and yellow placemat.
For example:
Color A - Blue - 129 yards
Color B - Yellow - 166 yards
Or you may choose to use a variegated yarn with a solid contrasting color. Self striping and ombre yarns paired with a solid contrasting color are also perfect to use with this pattern.
The back of mosaic patterns will be striped giving you a reversible design.
Stitches Used - US Terms:
Ch - Chain
SC - Single Crochet
BLSC - Back Loop Single Crochet
FLDC - Front Loop Double Crochet 2 Rows Down
Skill Level:
Confident beginner - As long as you know the basics of crocheting (stitches listed above), you will be able to do this project. Mosaic crochet looks a lot more complex than it really is. I have had several people that were brand new to mosaic crochet try my patterns and each one was able to follow the instructions and were successful in their projects.
