Gretel is a well-loved design for the intermediate knitter and is now in its eighth printing. The body and sleeves are knit on a #8 Circular needle; the yokes are worked on #7 Single Pointed needles. The smaller needle used for the yokes helps keep the knitting of the heart borders and yoke stitches crisp and nicely defined. All these details are created with purl stitches against a background of knit stitches.

Being knit in the round, when your knitting is done Gretel is done, not a single seam to sew. A bonus for those who loathe finishing! It is best knit in smooth, evenly spun yarns to enhance the stitching in the heart borders and Seed Stitch yokes, the design lends itself to many different fibers.
