Greythorne
The Greythorne socks are knitted from the top down and they are constructed so that they will fit most people’s feet. They have a heel flap and gusset and a wedge toe and the length of the foot can be adjusted to suit the foot of the future wearer.
The socks feature a lovely little rose flower pattern worked in mock cables and nestled within columns of twisted stitches. The rose patterning runs down the leg and onto the foot and the left and right sock are mirror images of each other.
The Greythorne sock pattern includes a smooth sole option for people with sensitive feet. If you knit the smooth sole version the smooth knit side sits up against the sole of the feet with the purl side facing outwards. The conventional sole option creates socks with the purl side facing in, as is standard for most socks. You can make your choice when you have finished knitting the heel flap of the first sock.
You will comfortably be able to make a pair with a 100 gram skein of standard sock yarn. The socks can be knitted using magic loop, two circular needles or DPNs.
This pattern has been thoroughly tested by a group of lovely knitters over on Yarn Pond.
