Once the vest is finished, the stitches are picked around the armholes and the neckline to form the border. On the front neck, the stitches are knitted in such a manner as to extend the ribs that flow into the pattern. The vest is wide and comfortable, with a slight swingy shape and wide armholes, so that it can be work over a t-shirt as well as over a light sweater when it’s supercold. A moderate breast shaping and waist shaping along the back makes it more shapely and feminine. It is knitted in Clara by Borgo de’ Pazzi, an unusual blend of cotton and wool In which natural white cotton is the core around which the wool fibers are wound. It makes for a marled, heavy and drapey yarn that is not lacking elasticity when knitted.
