Grisaille
This cardigan design idea sprouted from a need for a wardrobe staple; something lightweight to throw on over a dress or camisole as a quick & pretty cover-up. Light as a feather, this little sweater will take you through any season.
Knitted from the top-down with set-in sleeves and a fanciful lace panel that is easy to achieve, with just enough lace to keep it interesting.
There is subtle waist shaping to fit and flatter.
The sleeves are mostly fitted, and then they bell slightly at the bracelet length cuffs.
This is an intermediate pattern, you need to be comfortable working a simple lace pattern, picking up stitches, increasing and decreasing, and working short rows (to create sleeve cap). Directions for lace patterns are both written and charted.

Pattern Notes
- Cardigan begins at the top back, which is worked to the armholes and then put onto a holder while both fronts are worked at the same time. The body is then joined and worked in one piece to the hem.
- Stitches are picked up around the armhole to create the sleeves. The cap is created w/short rows, the rest of the sleeve is worked in the round to the cuff, where a simple lace border is added.
- Lastly, stitches are picked up around the front edges and a small garter stitch border is added.
