These strands are made separately then hung from a dowel or curtain rod. The flowers are made from 6-strand DMC cotton embroidery floss because I liked the color range the best. The craft hemp is stiff, so the medium-thin type that’s commonly available behaves as if it’s thicker. The most important thing is that the beads you use have holes large enough for the hemp that you use.
I wear some of these strands as a tie belt now. Also great wrapped around a gift.
