The Groovy Raglan is a 70’s/80’s inspired raglan shirt or pullover. The pattern is written for both short sleeves and long sleeves. The sweater is knit top-down with raglan increases at the shoulders with short row shaping to help the sweater sit on the body better. The color work is worked over half of the yoke and part of the body. The rest of the body is worked in your main color and cast off in a contrast color of your choice. The neckline is picked up after the body is completed to add structure to the neckline. The sleeves are worked in the main color until the ribbing for short sleeves or the color work chart is continued and the remainder of the sleeve is worked in your main color. The ribbing is knit in a contrast color of your choice. This is a great stash buster for leftover sock yarn. I would say this is an advanced beginner pattern, you learn a lot of skills at once.

Construction:
Knitted as a top-down raglan to give the sweater a vintage feel. Instead of splitting in the center back, we split on the back-left shoulder to hide the jog between colorwork rows. Stitches are cast on, the body is worked, and the neckline is added later for more structure (you are welcome to do the ribbing first; I know it’s many stitches to pick up). There is short row shaping, to help the sweater sit on the body better. From there the yoke is done in colorwork, the chart on page 6. The sleeve and body split in hidden within the colorwork and the colorwork is then continued on the body and optionally on the sleeves.
