Overview
This hat is knitted using slip-stitch technique to create a fair isle type of pattern. As only one strand of yarn is in work each row, it makes a really easy way to create colourwork. Tubular cast on technique is used for casting on to give professional look as well as a nice strechy brim.
After creating the tubular cast on, the hat is knitted in round. An elastic thread is inserted into the brim to keep therib nice and stretchy.

Size
One size to fit a woman
Gauge
12 sts and 16 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette Stitch
Needles
US 13 (9 mm) circular (or size to obtain gauge). If you knit
loosely like me, take US 11 (8 mm) needles. The length of
the circular needles depends on the method you prefer for a
small diameter circular knitting. When you choose a magic
loop technique, take circulars at least 40” (100 cm) long.
When not using the magic loop technique, take 16” (40
cm) circular needles.
Yarn
DROPS Andes, 65% wool, 35% alpaca (109
yards/100 m, 100 g skein), 1 skein in main colour
(shown in light brown 5310) and 1 skein in contrasting
colour (shown in royal blue 6928). Note that you will use
up the entire skein of main colour, so knit the swatch in
contrasting colour.

Yarn needle, a few yards of thick cotton yarn in
contrasting colour for tubular cast on, crochet hook,
elastic thread, stitch marker.
