When the theme for this round was announced, I knew that I would be doing a prayer Shawl. It just made sense. My first thought was the Serenity Prayer, I learned it many years ago. I still recite it, most days, as it has become an ingrained part of my world.

While swatching the stitch, looking for the perfect accompany stitch, My work was set down to tend to some other things. When I returned, and looked at the rows I had completed. I saw them. People, with their arms extended, separated, and ensconced under this glorifying arch.

It was an immediate breath, held, while I snapped the picture. Yes, that is what I saw. The capelet designed itself from there. Each row, each person, supporting, embracing, empowering the next. Just like in a group hug.

Serenity is not a place for me, it is not perfect weather, glorious Sun Sets, Beautiful Waters. All of those things are comforting, and beautiful, but for me, Serenity is realized when the world around me is in sync. When people are working together, When the battles over who is right, or what is wrong are set aside. Joining together, to accomplish great things. Much the way I see this design.

Pattern is worked bottom up, in sets of Lace, and Solid repeats, then framed with a solid band, worked in turned rounds.
The Shoulder shaping will occur while working the framing band.
Gauge given is optimum, but not critical to the design
Color choices used in the sample are intended to reinforce the symbolism of my Serenity, You are welcome to mimic what I have done, or create your own palette. The wrap is just as lovely created in one solid color, or select a variegated colorway to avoid having to weave in ends.
