Gubbio Fingerless Mitts
DESCRIPTION
This pattern is knit in the round, bottom up and is part of the Umbria Collection. The design was inspired by the Palazzo dei Consoli in the main square of Gubbio, Italy. This warm, squishy design is a perfect knit to introduce yourself to using slipped stitches to create texture and creates an elegant and complex looking design.
This pattern has two sizes available (Adult Small, & Adult Large) and has instructions on how to easily modify the length and width of the fingerless mitts.
SKILLS
This includes an advanced beginner level knitting pattern. The fingerless mitts are knit in the round from the bottom up. The techniques involved are knit, purl, slipped stitches, k1 uls, and binding off and casting on in the middle of a round. There are written instructions as well as a link to my instructional video for the k1 uls. All Frosia Knits patterns are written in standard US terms.
YARN
You will need 1 skein of Malabrigo Arroyo DK/Sport weight yarn (100% Superwash Merino Wool). Each skein is 335 yds (306 m). You will need about 134-160 yds (123-160 m) total to complete two fingerless mitts. The sample was knit using the Coffee Toffee colorway. You can easily substitute any similar DK/Sport yarn, just make sure to check your gauge.
