This pattern was created as part of the subscription box: Serial Kittens, which is a collaboration with Serial Knitters DyeHouse and Schmutzerella Yarns.

The design of this cowl was inspired by speckled yarns. They seem to have taken our knitting world by storm and with good reason. They are truly beautiful and very fun to combine with solid or semisolid colors.

The edge of this cowl reminds me of the benches in Park Güell, Barcelona. It is a magical place to visit, especially as a child, I have fond memories of playing at the park and now I can wear a lovely reminder every day.

Both DK and fingering weight versions are included in this pattern. The fingering instructions and numbers are written first; followed by the DK ones in parenthesis.

Finished measurements: 21” long at the longest point by 40” around at the bottom border. Both the DK and the fingering weight version measure approximately the same.

Yarn: This is a two skein project.

For the DK version, one skein each of:

• DyeHouse Yarns by Serial Knitters - Bridle Trails DK 
• Schmutzerella Yarns – Groovy (DK)

For the fingering weight version, one skein each of:

• DyeHouse Yarns by Serial Knitters - Cherry Creek Sock
• Schmutzerella Yarns – Dude (fingering)

Note: DK will use most of the two skeins, fingering will use about 80% of each skein.

Recommended needle size: I used US#6 for fingering and US#8 for DK weight. But you should use a needled size that produces a fabric that you like for a cowl, a little drape might be desirable.

Gauge:

• Fingering weight: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in Stockinette st.
• DK weight: 18 sts and 30 rows = 4” in Stockinette st.
